When having a forgetful husband and children in your home, the keypad sounds like perfect option. But are you sacrificing your safety for the convenience? Pros and cons are listed below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pros<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Easy to change codes. (You can also set temporary ones that expire after a certain time.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Ability to automatically lock after a few seconds of leaving. (Depends on Model.)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Can link to bluetooth to operate via smartphone or tablet.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>No spare key needed to leave outside.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Cons<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bad Weather (like extreme heat, sun, or cold) can create problems.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Battery will need changing at least once a year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Someone can watch and learn your code.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If you don\u2019t change your code every so often, the keys will wear down, \u2018showing\u2019 your code.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>So is it really worth the extra $100-$200 to install a new lock and bolt with a keypad? I\u2019m not sure. Yes it is convenient to leave your key at home but it is so much easier for an intruder to watch and learn your code than try to pick a lock.
